NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme naturally present in cells and involved in numerous cellular processes, including pathways related to energy metabolism.
NAD+ levels may decrease with age. This change is the subject of extensive scientific research, particularly in relation to cellular metabolism and mechanisms associated with ageing.
Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a precursor of NAD+: it can be used by the body in the pathways involved in NAD+ synthesis. A clinical study conducted in 12 older men observed changes in the NAD+-related muscle metabolome after 21 days of supplementation with 1 g/day of NR (Elhassan et al., 2019).
Combining NAD+ with coenzyme Q10, vitamins B6 and B12, and ginseng brings together several ingredients studied in the context of energy metabolism.
