The manufacturing of gummies
Formula development
Before we can move on to manufacturing, we need to go through a stage of research and development to ensure product stability and the compatibility of active ingredients.
Once the theoretical formula has been developed, laboratory samples are taken and sent to you to ensure the product's organoleptic qualities (color, texture, taste...).
These samples enable us to reproduce the industrial process by hand, so that we can finalize formula development and move on to the manufacturing stage.
The manufacturing process
The premix
The first stage in the manufacturing process is the production of the premix. Premix is a powdery mixture of the formula's active ingredients (vitamins, minerals, etc.).
For this stage, we take the quantities of raw materials required for the formula and blend them together to obtain a uniform powder.
Molding
Once the premix has been made, it can be incorporated into a gel base to create the characteristic texture of Gummies. This stage begins with the preparation of the base, made from pectin and gluccose or maltitol, depending on whether or not you want a sugar-free product.
The gelled base is then heated to a precise temperature to obtain a fluid consistency that enables the premix and other ingredients, such as natural flavors or colorants, to be incorporated. This homogeneous mixture is then poured into molds to take their final shape.
Drying
After molding, the Gummies go through a drying phase, which can last 1 to 2 days depending on their composition. It is during this stage that the Gummies, which are still liquid, will solidify and take on their final appearance.
Demolding and coating
Once dried, the Gummies are carefully removed from the molds to avoid damaging them. They can then be coated with a thin layer of sugar, citric acid or an anti-sticking agent to improve their taste, texture or visual appearance. This stage is carried out in drums to ensure even distribution of the coating.
Quality control
Once production has been completed and the drying time respected, each batch is checked by our quality team to ensure product conformity and uniformity between different batches.
Gummies are checked for technical specifications (size, weight, etc.) and organoleptic aspects (taste, texture, color, etc.). In the event of non-compliance, the products are not packed.
Packaging
Once quality control has been validated, Gummies can be packaged. Depending on the type of packaging required, products may go through several packaging stages.
Jars / bottles
In most cases, Gummies are then packaged in jars (30, 60, 90 Gummies...).
When packed in jars, the Gummies are placed on automatic lines, which pour the defined number of Gummies into each jar, seal the neck with a lid and screw on the cap. The label is then affixed to the jar.
Doypacks
Doypacks work in much the same way. Gummies are placed in each doypack and sealed automatically.
Depending on your needs, we can also supply your Gummies in bags, bulk, boxes... contact us to get your project started.
